Hi! My name is Miri and I'm a 30-something-year-old mental health therapist living in Texas! It's fairly easy to doxx me on the Internet so I'm not making any grand gestures to conceal my identify, but I do find it nice to have a space that is unlinked to most of my professional avenues 😅
I have raging Eldest Daughter Syndrome, so you'll get to watch me process in real time the high expectations I place upon myself 🥲 I'll share snippets of my life, rant about things that irk me, document some public crash-outs, and share pictures of my cat. Because of course an eldest millennial daughter would be a cat mom.
I have three awesome siblings who all work in some form of software engineering. You would think I didn't get the memo about being a software engineering family, but the truth is I went to one of the best universities in the nation for computer science. I dropped out of the EECS program in the second semester of my sophomore year and ended up majoring in economics and finance instead. After working on Wall Street for about a year doing mergers & acquisitions, I quit and took a grand tour of every career known to man, eventually settling on being a mental health therapist by chance (I applied to a bunch of masters programs in many different fields, and this was the one that accepted me first).
I decided to embrace my ADHD and attended medical school for two years as a side quest before realizing my talents were probably best suited for the original path I was on (clinical psychology). This side-questing is unfortunately a common occurrence and no doubt the cause of many of my parents' sleepless nights.
Ultimately, I love telling stories about my life. I envision this space being a place where I document all the fun anecdotes and experiences I have had, in hopes that they give you a chuckle, bring a tear to your eye, or inspire you to reach for your dreams 🥰
